Google Map – a link:
Google Map – with some plotted evidence – click this link
LIDAR:
This is a link to Environment Agency LIDAR mapping. Follow the link, type ‘Glooston’ into the place search box (top left) and it’ll take you to our location. Use the ‘layers’ function to select the 1m and 2m LIDAR resolution.
Topographical Map:
This is a link to a Topographical Map. Follow the link which will zoom in to our location. You can get a great ‘feel’ for the lie of the land, but there’s nothing quite like walking the footpaths to bring home the impact of topography on route making.
Mapping Software – two links:
These are two links to mapping software I’ve found so far: Maptiler and Georeferencer. I’ve struggled to integrate the results onto this website, but I’ll keep at it. As an example of what Georeferencer can do, click this link to look at Fowler’s 1828 Map of Leicester superimposed on modern mapping; use the ‘fader tool’ top right.
